Email and domain basics
Four things get mixed up, mostly because they're often sold together.
The domain
Your address, like yourbusiness.com. You rent it by the year from a company called a registrar. It doesn't hold your site. It points people to wherever the site lives.
It should be registered in your name, on an account you can log into. With me, the domain is yours from day one, on a paid build and on a $0-down build.
The hosting
The computer your site lives on, kept online all day. With me that's $39 a month, with HTTPS, backups, updates and uptime checks. See what hosting covers.
The site
The pages, the words, the photos. That's the build.
Email at your domain
An inbox like you@yourbusiness.com usually comes from a separate email service, billed by that service. It isn't part of my hosting. It uses the same domain, so the domain settings need to point to both your site and your email. If you already have email at your domain, tell me before launch so nothing gets switched off by accident.
What to send me
Which company your domain is with, and whether you already have email on it. That's it. More in what to send me to get started.
