A few sessions, start to finish. Names are left out on purpose.

Golden hour, no plan

They had a list of shots they'd seen online. We used none of them, and they've never once asked about the list.

Black rocks in a white sea mist
The morning started like this. We waited.

The plan was a sunrise ceremony on the rocks. The fog had other ideas, so we moved breakfast up, read the vows in a parked car, and drove until the sky cleared.

By the time the light came, nobody was nervous anymore. They'd been laughing for two hours. That's the whole trick, honestly: time. Most of the photos they love came after I said "we're done."

Their gallery had 240 photos. They printed eleven.

The couple in warm backlight, close together
Forty minutes late. Worth it.
Waves crashing on a rocky shore under a misty sky
The spot they almost picked.

Eight people, one beach

Three generations, one birthday, and a niece who would only be photographed in her tiara.

A family of eight standing in a row on the beach, the sea behind them
The one photo they asked for. Everything else was a bonus.

Big family sessions have one rule: get the group photo first, while everyone is still clean and patient. That took four minutes.

The rest of the hour was small things: cousins racing, a grandmother's hat blowing off twice, the birthday girl directing her own shoot. I mostly followed her lead.

They chose an album. It lives on the coffee table at the grandparents' house.
